Then there is a the seriously annoying UEFI bios (ghosh I hate that thing!) I have to do a bunch of "little things" as well, such as exporting their bookmarks, and finding out what latest programs they may have installed since I did the clone, and doing a lot of windows updates to the original-drive that's been sitting in a box in the closet, etc. in the real world, theory aside, there are drawbacks to this.įor example, while recloning doesn't usually take much time, it's still a pain in the in practice!įor example, before I reclone, I have to capture their current and most up to the date data files on their infected hard-drive (if they did not make backups of those files on another drive). This is MUCH better than a simple "system restore" recovery, as a full CLONE really does return me, without any failures or glitches, to a pristine and perfected state of their Operating System.īut. So if any of them install a program that fries their system, or gets malware, then it usually only takes about 10 to 15 minutes to RECLONE from the original, and VOILA: they are good to go.

Once cloned, I put the original hard drive in a plastic box, in their closet, and tell them to keep it safe! And then for daily use, they just use the cloned drive. I do the same thing for all users I'm supporting. Well, I use Acronis True Image, to make a perfect sector-by-sector CLONE of my hard-drive for backup purposes.
